The Pritikin Diet
Developed initially to treat heart disease, The Pritikin diet is a natural low fat diet which eliminates processed foods including pasta, white bread, eggs and animal proteins. Whole grains, fruit and vegtables replace this gap and fats that are high in Omega 3 fatty acids are acceptable in limited quantaties.
The Pritikin Diet is a low fat diet that should induce weight loss, however if hunger is not saitated the dieter may feel the requirement to eat larger portions. The diet is close to a vegetarian diet and the dieter must be careful to ensure that whilst they are getting a good portion of fruit and vegtables each day, that they do not omit any vital minerals and vitamins from their diet.
