Several studies have shown that CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) can be a highly effective supplement to assist weight loss. CLA is a naturally occurring substance. It is a fatty acid commonly found in beef and dairy produce.
How CLA Works
CLA (Conjugated Linoleic acid) transforms the production of prostaglandins, which are linked to higher levels of growth hormone. Increased growth hormone levels are helpful to both athletes and those who want to lose weight as a method of promoting enhanced muscle growth, strength and fat loss. Some prostaglandins may also increase blood circulation to the muscles and adipose tissue. This in turn could improve muscle function and fat mobilization.
Owing to its antioxidant effect, CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) has been reported to have anti-tumour/anti-cancer properties. Weight loss studies have shown that CLA supplementation increased daily energy expenditure by nearly 8 per cent.
No negative side effects have been reported with CLA supplementation. However, a recent study stated that about 30 per cent of subjects reported gastrointestinal symptoms (stomach upsets) associated with recommended doses (3-5 grams a day).
