Yoga

Yoga originated in India over 5,000 years ago. Yoga is a psycho-physical discipline and is an excellent form of exercises and body conditioning. On a basic level Western Yoga focuses on postures (asanas), breathing exerises (pranayama) and meditation.

The word Yoga means union and traditionally the ultimate goal of yoga is to achieve a union with the Absolute, known as Brahman, or with Atman, the true self. In today's society the benefits of Yoga are more tangible including improved flexibility, physical fitness, self-awareness and self-control, relaxation and mental clarity.

There is also a strong link with the spiritual and Yoga allows you to focus on one or a combination of the physical, psychological and spiritual.

There are many different styles of Yoga. The most popular forms of Yoga include Hatha Yoga, Astanga Yoga, Iyengar Yoga and Viniyoga Yoga.
