Treadmills

Treadmills are sometimes called running machines and are used by people for running or walking indoors at a gym or home. Using a treadmill can provide an excellent cardiovascular workout and is good for building a basic level of fitness or acheiving serious fitness aims.

Treadmills have variable speeds and adjustable gradients to increase resistance and simulate hill running. Treadmills often have an LCD display which shows calories burned, heart rate, speed and gradient or programme followed.

For beginners Treadmills can be used to gradually improve general fitnes, aerobic capacity and stamina. Beginners can start on an easy speed and do interval training with running followed by periods of walking. As fitness increases the speed, gradient and programme can be adjusted on the treadmill.

You can buy Treadmills from many high street stores, sports shops or online. Many places will offer delivery service so that you do not need to worry about transporting the treadmill home. Many Treadmills can be folded and so can be stored easily with the home.
